Amy has been coaching for Grand Rapids Novi Sad Aquatics since September of 2012. Her goals are to help young people develop not only as swimmers, but also as students and individuals. She also desires to promote and develop a swimming community in order to help the sport to continue to grow in South Grand Rapids.
Amy began coaching swimming as a volunteer for the Davenport Metro Swim Team (IA) from 2006-2007, helping coach age group swimmers for an hour each daybefore hopping in the water to swim with the senior group. When she moved to California for College, she continued her coaching career by working for Seal Beach Swim Club in Orange County from 2008-2009. Upon transfering to Calvin College in order to finish her bachelor's degree, Amy taught swim lessons while finishing out the rest of her college career. She moved back to Iowa for the summer of 2012, where she returned to Davenport Metro Swim Team as an assistant coach and a swim lessons instructor for the City of Davenport Parks & Recreation.
In August of 2012, Amy moved to the Grand Rapids area to finish her B.A. in German. She intends to begin her career here as she continues to coach for both GRNSA and the Grand Rapids Public Schools as an assistant coach for both Ottawa Hills High School and the South Middle Schools. She is an ASCA Level II Coach, Lifeguard, and Water Safety Instructor.
Amy was born and raised in Davenport, IA, where she began swimming competitively at the age of eight for the local club team. She went on to swim for Bettendorf High School (2003-2007), Orange Coast College (2008-2009), and Calvin College (2009-2010). In her 13 years of competitive swimming, Amy has been an age group state qualifier, high school state qualifier, and member of a conference championship team at Orange Coast College.
